In 1934, 20 years old Manuel Prata
decided to deepen his knowledge in tailoring by
joining a course for tailors in Porto, in northern
Portugal. What he did not know at the time was
that he was taking the first steps of a long journey
in the textile and clothing sector, that would be
proudly followed for the gerations ahead.
As it happens, Manuel’s sons would grow side by
side with their father learning the art of tailoring.
It was in 1980 that the fifth son of Manuel, Emanuel
Prata, created his own garment industry 'Prata &
Borges’, soon recognised for the high quality and
diversity. Emanuel Prata entire professional life has
been dedicated to this factory, leaving it only when
