Introducing the Pure Origin catwalk

Introducing the Pure Origin catwalk

Anyone who’s attended Pure London knows, our catwalks are the highlights of the show each season. That’s why we thought we’d add one more to the mix! As Pure Origin has grown, the possibilities have grown with it and the AW19/20 edition saw our sourcing show present its very first trend-led catwalk. It’s this that I’m here to talk about today.

What is it?

The Pure Origin catwalk offers something a little bit different to the more traditional Main and Future stage offerings. Inspired by the trends for three seasons ahead, the Pure Origin catwalk showcases the fabrics, colours and textures that will be taking the world by storm. To put it simply, Pure Origin’s July 2019 catwalk will feature the fabric and fibre trends for AW20/21. Instead of finished collections and garments, you can expect to see conceptual looks that showcase the fabrics of tomorrow, provided by our exhibitors and styled in line with the trends coming up for the seasons ahead.

Why?

We’ve already identified the benefits of having every touchpoint of the fashion supply chain under the same roof. The Pure Origin catwalk only strengthens these benefits. We wanted to provide designers, brands and sourcing managers the inspiration, trend insight and materials they need to plan the next collections and ranges. What’s more, the catwalk is a great opportunity for our exhibitors to showcase their fabrics and materials to the right audience at the right time.

The SS20 trends

For its inaugural edition, Pure Origin showcased the fabric trends that we’ve started to see come through in collections, on catwalks and on the red carpets of this year’s awards season.

Metallics and iridescence

Pure Origin Metallic Trend

Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen have been championing silver-y, futuristic looks for a while now, and it’s no surprise that these featured heavily on the Pure Origin catwalk in February 2019. Obvious choices included satin and silks, which provide their own luminescence, whilst treated leathers and “pleathers” brought this trend into a more space age feel.

Bright and bold colours

Pure Origin Catwalk Trends Colours

Summer style has long been associated with bright, tropical inspired colours, and SS20’s fabric trends are no exception. Pinks and reds dominated in the colour-sphere, with colour blocking continuing to be a key trend where prints and patterns are concerned.

Technical fashion

Pure Origin Catwalk Trends Performance Fabrics

In line with the athleisure and outwear trend the Pure Origin catwalk featured a range of technical fabrics to inform the next trends in the sector.

With these trends, and many more, confirming our understanding of SS20’s upcoming styles, we’re excited to see what the Pure Origin catwalk this July has to offer.
